Job Description:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting throughout health services to aid patient care and business operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
Welcome patients and visitors with care and compassion and provide exceptional customer service.
Prepares patients for examination by provider by obtaining medical history and intake of vital signs.
Prepares exam rooms, including maintenance, sterilization of equipment, and stocking of supplies.
Assists provider with medical procedures, such as wound dressing, suture removal, injections, UA dips, EKG, X-ray's and other applicable office procedure depending on specialty.
Instructs patients on necessary paperwork and procedures.
Plans, organizes and supports the care of patients, families and visitors in outpatient setting.
Administration of medications and appliances within scope of practice and as ordered by the treating provider.
Maintain proper inventory levels of all medical supplies and track inventory for pharmaceuticals in the center.
Documents patient care in EMR (DocuTAP) including correspondence and required reports, maintains logs and records as assigned.
Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
Assesses and properly handles lab results.
Responsible for patient call backs; scheduling physician referrals; specialist's referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient's education.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities Register patients, photocopy information, scan/file information, and answer the telephone, take messages, and directs calls.
Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:
00 AM - 6:
00 PM Saturday - Sunday 10:
00 AM - 4:
00 PM.
